Playing wav files on cd player
by Kevinalmer - 4/11/08 5:59 PMI have an IAudio G3 player that I have recorded hours of high quality wav files music on. I would like to transfer these to cd to play them on a regular cd player. IŽve tried and the files wonŽt play. Any suggestions? Thank you. Sincerely Kevin

by ktreb - 4/11/08 7:25 PM In reply to: Playing wav files on cd player by Kevinalmer1. Did you burn an audio cd, rather than a data cd? When you burn an audio cd, you finalize it, so that you cannot add anything more to it.
2. Did you burn to a cd-r or cd-rw? Unless the cd player plays cd-rw (it should say so right on the player), most regular players won't play these, but cd-r should be fine.
If neither of these are an issue, more information may be needed, such as what program you are using to burn your discs and what brand/model cd player that you are using.

You probably used Roxio and probably did everything right EXCEPT for your choice of cd media. As I said in my previous post, most regular cd players will not play cd-rw discs unless it specifically says so on the player. Those that play these will have a CD-RW notation on the player itself that shouldn't be hard to miss.
If burning to cd-r still doesn't work, check to make sure that the the cd was finalized. Once a cd is finalized, you can't add anything more to it. However, when you're burning an audio cd with Roxio, the program should automatically do this. So, finalization shouldn't be a problem. You should be able to view the burning progress in Roxio (or any other burning program) and toward the end, it will say it is "finalizing."
Another issue may be that your cd player will not play non-commercially produced cds (ie, burned on your computer), but that is rare unless you have a really old cd player. I would venture to guess older than 10 years, but I've seen older players than that play these.
There could be other issues, but start with the cd-r first. The cd-rw you burned should be playable on most computers.
