What MP3 Should I Get (under $200)

by HoopsJunky21 - 4/3/08 2:04 PM

What MP3 player should I get? I can only get one for under $200. Please dont suggest an ipod because I have a 2nd gen nano but I HATE iTunes so unless theres a way to get around iTunes (if there is tell me how) then dont suggest an ipod. Thanks.

the Archos 404 is a PMP so if you want videos that would be nice 30GB for $150
if you want something smaller in flash there's the ZEN and Sansa View

Sorry. I want music and video. I was thinking of a Zune but does the Zune have a system like iTunes?

Yes

It has a closed system like iPod/iTunes. However, the first generation was hackable so you didn't need to use the software. I imagine the second generation should be hackable as well.

Creative Zen

I recently purchased a 16gb Creative Zen. Fabulous; very user friendly; comes with it's own software which I find very good for music transfer; playlists and general track management. Manufacturer and many online retailers sell for $200. I bought mine (slightly used) on E-Bay for $150 + ship. I did well and am very happy with my purchase.

Zen is awesome.

Yeah most Creative Zens over 100$ play video. I have an old(no video) 20GB Creative Zen Touch(got it off refurb 50$ looks new!). It works like charm and you don't have to use ITunes.

If you want video...Get this:
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?product=16999

4GB is 99$, 8GB is 150$ and 16GB is 200$. It also has a SD card slot for even more storage.

Price for E100 are $109 (2G) , $139 (4G) and $189 (8G)

E100 also have card slot for extra storage. For players under $200, they are good choices.

Look at iAudio/Cowon

by Craig Kirkwood - 4/12/08 6:12 PM In reply to: What MP3 Should I Get (under $200) by HoopsJunky21

Check out the iAudio MP3/video players (also check under Cowon). Many users claim they are the most accurate for music. I have had an iAudio 5 for years (only 2G) and recently upgraded to Sansa e280(?), but turned around and sold it for an iAudio 7 (8G - 16G available). All players have great sound; some models have great video - they were among the highest rated in CR as well. Prices have dropped, too.
