I have a widescreen monitor with DVI input (HDCP via DVI). I currently use it as a secondary monitor for my laptop. Is it possible to directly connect a DVD-player with HDMI output to the DVI input of the monitor, using a simple HDMI-DVI cable? I assume I have to connect my speakers separately, but that's OK. Will the video be transmitted to the monitor without any issues?
Thanks in advance.
i actually did this for a couple of wal-mart store pc monitor displays. a normal hdmi - dvi cable is fine.
however, i did notice that the cheaper players dropped the signal after a few plays ( we had the dvd player on repeat) a simple power off/on fixed it. there was no problem using the higher end models, even the ps3.
