I have a Vista Ultimate desktop and a XP Pro Laptop. I want to network them RIGHT. Basically what I want is to be able to access ANYWHERE on EITHER machine with password protection. Should I disable simple file sharing on my laptop and set both machines to have the same username and password?
Thanks!
I haven't found the off switch for SFP such as we read at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309531
There may be more out there. Are you sure about your "spec"?
I believe vista has SFS off already. Is there a way that I can get access to the C drives of both PCs accessable on ONLY those PCs? (I have other PCs on the network.
That XP box won't show on the network neighborhood. But you can fix that. Look at our forum sticky for the entries about Vista.
