i consider myself a serious audiophile and for the past few years, I have had an IPOD Nano, which is now breaking down. I have maxed out my storage capacity and when I connect the Nano to other computers, i get a reformat issue, which i know means I will lose my music.
So, I want a mp3 player that has ample space (over 20GB+ would be great), will allow me to transfer my music purchased from ITUNES (if this is possible, I guess, I need to transfer the audio files to a separate hard drive??), has USB, and it would be great if there was a radio component. I even looked at a sirius portable player. I have considered ZUNE, but I have not heard great reviews on ZUNE.
I have checked the reviews, but there doesn't seem to be anything that meets my requirements. please advise.
Thanks.
The creative Zen comes in a 32gb and is about the size of a credit card has a large screen the sound quality is good. Your i tunes music is drm protected unless u purchase the itunes plus i am unsure of how to get them to another defive but the good news is that as itunes updates it music to plus u can update your library to the pluss songs to they to will be drm free. also try amazon mp3 all the music is drm free and plays with itunes and u can actally set it so they files are automaticly imported into your itunes library.
My itunes library is huge. i don't know if i purchased Itunes Plus, but I do buy music often.
does the creative zen play the mp3s from itunes?
thanks.
The music that you RIPPED from cd's into mp3s or were EXISTING mp3s that you imported into iTunes are playable in any player. The songs that you PURCHASED from iTunes MAY NOT be playable in anything but iPods. Whether or not you can depends on if they are iTunes Plus tracks, so you need to find out. In iTunes, if you right click on a song that you PURCHASED, choose "get info", go to the first tab, and there you will find the information you need.
If the file type is AAC PURCHASED PROTECED (or something like that), then you cannot play it (and others like it) on any other player except iPods without going through the tedious process of BURNING to audio cd, ripping back into mp3, and then fixing the tag information.
If it just says AAC PURCHASED, then it is an iTunes Plus track (more than likely purchased in the last year) and is DRM-free. Then you can play this in any player that SUPPORTS AAC without further conversion into mp3. The newer Sonys and the Creative Zen supports UNPROTECTED AAC, such as the iTunes Plus music. Otherwise, you can CONVERT these songs into mp3 WITHIN iTunes. Right click on the song(s) and choose "convert to mp3" and it will convert to mp3 in the bitrate you specified in your preferences. iTunes Plus tracks are 256kbps, so you may want to up your bitrate.
Install http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/ and you won't complain about that again.
