trouble choosing a graphics card

by swargy - 3/25/08 6:57 PM

I am having problems picking a graphics card for the new desktop I'm building.
I want to get the 9800 gx2 but I'm starting to think that I could get better performance with (2) 8800 gts and it would be cheaper but I do not know for sure.
So I'm pretty much looking for the best graphics for around $600 (the price of the 9800gx2)
Also if you have any links to comparisons between 2 8800s and a 9800gx2 post it. I could only find threads comparing one 8800 and one 9800. I did see a thread comparing a 8800 ultra to a 9800gx2 and they were pretty close with benchmarks, but they were also about the same price.

(NT) Did Tomshardware do this yet?

from an early review of it on tweaktown.com (which has now been pulled), it is as fast as a 9800gx2 and faster than dual 8800gt. it will be about $400-$450.

Like someone else said right now 1 9800gx2 is comparable to (2) 8800 GTS cards. (2) 8800 ultras would be faster but it would cost the same as (2) 9800 gx2s.
