If It Worked A Week Ago & You've Changed Nothing..

...then try a different brand of disc.. If that doesn't get things running, then the drive is probably going south.. You can always try a CD cleaner if you happen to have one but if you don't, it cheaper to replace the drive.

On the other hand, if you've installed or uninstalled CD burning software lately, try the instructions in the link below to remove the Upper/Lower filters entry in the registry:

Hope this helps.

Try this...

I get that a lot! But I use Nero all the time so it doesn't bother me.
Some time ago I found the cause - there's a driver which loads silently with some games - it's to do with copy protection, and it can slow down the drive, or in my case it stopped the windows driver working.
To check, open control panel, go to View->Show Hidden Devices and then scroll to Non-plug and play drivers. If you see entries headed StarForce, this may be your issue. You can delete them and it might fix your problem but it might also stop your game working. In my case the drivers automatically reloaded when I ran the game.

Did You Intend To Respond To Me?

It appears like you meant to reply to the original poster.. When doing so, if you open THEIR post, then click on the "Reply" button, your response will be placed in the right location..

Hope this helps.

Thank you for posting.I have done exactly what you told and disable 5 entries heading starforce, but the actual issue still remains the same.Is there any other driver that may behave same way?

Sorry, thats as much as I know. It did fix it for me so yours must be another problem.
An idea - if you have the full version of nero you could re-run the installer and enable InCD. I know it might not be exactly what you want but it'll probably work.

So, Have You Made The Reg Changes...?

by Grif Thomas Moderator - 3/26/08 8:09 AM In reply to: may be the right way...but still not resolved. by babu-80

...that I mentioned earlier and have you ?...then opened "My Computer", then RIGHT click on the DVD/CD drive, choose "Properties". When the "Properties" window opens, click on the "Recording" tab, then place a CHECK mark in the box next to "Enable CD Recording". Click on Apply, then OK.

If that doesn't help, have you uninstalled and reinstalled Nero including the InCD program?

Hope this helps.

Thank you...but..

My problem does not match the link you provided.According to Device Manager the drive is working properly. Also I have not install or uninstall any burning software recently and the box you said is already checked. The disk drive can read all cds but whenever I try to write any cd it can't recognize the blank cd in drive. But with Nero I have no problem.

Just so you know.

I often share a KB article that doesn't quite match but it has the instructions of what I would do if I encountered your issue. Looking above this appears to be the case.

Hope this explains that.
