hey guys!
i was thinking of getting a console but then i got confused between the PS3 and wii. there are still discussions going on which is better amongst those, so i thought i might be better to ask the users of the modules so as to which one wud be better to buy?
money ain't the criteria for now.
Depends what your needs are.
If you plan on playing online, I would say Xbox360 or PS3.
Do you have a HDTV... I would again lean towards Xbox360 or PS3.
Put what types of games do you want to play? That really is the main question. I have a 360 and love it. Had a Wii, but just wasn't right for me.
It's pretty simple, and all depends on what kind of games you like to play.
If you like first person shooters and action adventure type games, get a 360.
If you like role playing games, you should definitely go for the PS3.
If you're more of a casual gamer, and just like to be able to pick up some game, have fun playing it for a little while, then put it back down... Get a Wii.
All the talk about which one has the better graphics and has this or that particular feature is really kind of meaningless without games YOU want to play. So let the kind of gamer you are dictate the console you buy, not the other way around.
I have them both and love them equally. The PS3 & Wii are both quieter than the X360 and have better reliability ratings. So if money isn't a concern I say get both now or one now and the other in the near future.
I have both running on an HDTV,(remember to get the component cables for Wii to enhance the resolution to 480p) and you can get good HDMI cables for the PS3 off of Amazon.com for around $5. Both have their perks, so I think the two you've narrowed it down to work great together.
From my experience, now that Sony has been getting more competitive with Microsoft from price to feature standpoint, and the fact that the PS3 has next-gen media technology in Blu-ray, that may be the better one, since it's built more reliably. You don't get the "Red Ring of Death" crashes like you do with X360. I haven't heard one failing PS3 yet, so go for Sony, imho. Good games for the PS3 are to come later on during the spring/summer season. I, for one, would much rather have the PS3 version of a multi-platform game, because the PS3 will be more reliable if it's a game you want to play on a daily basis, and not have to worry about crashes or failures.
I'd go with the 360, better online, more games, the multi-platform games are rated higher on 360 and most of the time offer extra content. The older 360's were failing way more than they should of but the newer systems that are in stores now have addressed the problem. Comes with a 3 yr warranty so if something does go wrong you get it replaced for free.
PS3 would be my other choice, Blue-Ray is excellent for movies and it has two exclusives that catch my eye. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Tursimo. Killzone bombed as will the 2nd one most likely, "LittleBigPlanet" holds no interest to me but maybe it would for you. I would suggest going to ps3.ign.com and xbox360.ign.com and looking at the release dates on games to decide what suites your needs.
Wii-
Enjoy nintendo based games.
Want to play brawl
Try something new
Xbox 360-
Online play
Halo 3 or COD4
Want online content
PS3-
Online play
MGS4 (if ur patient enough)
Want to brag.
Least preferred: PS3. Why?
Cost, hardware, sound, and lack of fun games
So really its a fight between Wii and 360.
I own a ps3, 2 xbox 360's and a wii. My personal fav is the 360 for its online play, where the ps3 online play is not as developed as the 360's (i guess thats what you get for paying?) with the wii i bought mostly just to play around with at parties (multi player games) cuz im mostly a fps kind of person. Although with the ps3 you get the best piece of hardware for the price. IMO i would say if your going to play online go for the 360 but if not go for the ps3 although there arent so many good games out now there are going to be a ton more games for the ps3 this year that are going to be good
It does come down to what you really enjoy...If you like family/kids easy pick up and play games go for the wii...If you like real games or have any interest in movies go for the PS3...i personally wouldnt recommend the xbox360 to anyone especailly if money isnt an object...Here is why #1 is the failure rates they break ALL the time...someone mentioned that the newer versions dont but thats bs i have a friend who has sent his in for repair 3 times and the gave him a new one so if you enjoy paying for a console that you can only play 1 month then send in for 2 go for 360... I have had my ps3 on continually since dec non stop ( i do folding@home a program built in to the ps3 that helps cure certian diseases) and it has yet to faulter at all the 360 CANNOT do that it will break....Also the technology for the 360 isnt next gen it was a toddler step up from the orginal xbox..it still uses dvds...This means next year when you buy a game its gonna be 2-5 disc where as the Ps3 has blu ray (true future tech) and what takes 3 disc for 360 fits on one blu ray...That will impact 3rd party support in the future...Also check out what else the PS3 will be offering...They do regular updates to improve thier firware and update thier store every week....They just released a firmware update that allows the ps3 to decode dts-hd which is the best audio you can get from any HD source... That makes the PS3 by far and away the BEST bluray player on the market... Ps3 also has free wrls internet capabilites (have to buy a addon for 360) and free online play...Granted right now the xbox live pwns psn in terms of overall ease of use but you are also paying to use xbox live but Ps3 is releasing HOME which will pwn xbox live ( It is a massive world that all ps3 owners will load into similar to MMO games like everquest and WOW, where we can all walk aroound talk and the likes and we will all have our own virtual house where you can invite peole into to see all your trophies as well as watch movies listen to music ect ect...this will stomp all over xbox live) When it comes down to it the 360 will be dead in 2 yrs just like the life cycle of the orginal xbox ( they stopped making games for it almost 3 yrs ago...sony is still releasing games for ps2 to this day) and they will be releasing another xbox just to stay current w/ the Ps3...that means you will have to drop another 500-1000 to get the technology that is already in the ps3.... Sony wasnt making a machine to last 3-5 yrs the ps3 will still be in full force in 2015 when they release the ps4 the 360 will be dead n buried 3 times over by then.... So the final and biggest impact on buying a system is GAMES and right this sec xbox has many more games than ps3 but it was also released a yr b4 ps3...So lets look to the future and thier exclusives...If you go to any site that shows the Exclusives of each console you will see PS3 has about double the amount than the xbox has and also keep in mind like i stated earlier xbox relies on dvd whereas ps3 has bluray...dvd hold about 15gig of info a bluray can hold upto 50gig...simple math shows you that its gonna take 3 dvd disc to equal 1 bluray disc and that will affect the cost of making games hence 3rd party support will fall off for xbox soon....So if you add up all the positives and negitives you can see that the PS3 is the winner hands down for Future Gaming and Bluray Movies
The choice is yours The wii is great for families and kids but has nothing else really to offer other than its old classic games..no real online support or any mature games
The Xbox360 is the better gaming console for this sec...it has more games and better online support even tho you pay...it has a hddvd addon but hddvd is dead so thats a mute point now
The PS3 is THE future in Gaming and Movies
If money is no object PS3 should easily be the console you choose it has way more options than either of the other 2
Hope this helped!!!!!!!1
