What's a good tuner car?

by mancfox - 3/7/06 8:28 AM

Hi...I'm a little new to the import scene and I'm looking for another car....

I have about $3000 dollars to spend on a car and then I'll worry about mod money later...any suggestions on a decent car?

Reliable and cheap tires. Plenty of party tunes to enjoy with the extra cash you'll save. Navy blue is the best price; or you'll know you've been ripped off.

subaru impreza

by godda9u - 3/18/08 1:58 PM In reply to: What's a good tuner car? by mancfox

their choice is good and all, but none of them can have as much fun as subaru. while others is only good for tarmac, the impreza can also be convert for off road dirt rallying (except eclipse GSX, but don't know if it has lift kits for rallying.) you can get a cheap beater 91-94 ones for few thousand and do tons of things to it, like swapping in the later MY bumpers and interior parts, to JDM WRX OR STi parts like 280HP engines and race ready tranny. IMO, MY 99-01 GC8 are the best looking and that's what i got :-)
of course since you are newbie, you can start with civic. my first car is a CG MY 92-95 and like the impreza, you can do tons of work yourself. thus saving money. also, they have even more parts to play with than impreza(cheaper too!). so it will help you learn about car faster.

i would have to agree with you with the subaru impreza plus subaru parts
are easy to find so repairs/customization wont be much of a problem if ever.

nissan 240sx with s15 front end

by luke16 - 4/8/06 8:49 PM In reply to: What's a good tuner car? by mancfox

the nissan 240sx with a s15 front end upgrade and hatchback type x tailights would look good. the nissan's ka engine is originally a truck engine. replace that and go to the sr20det (99-05), witch you can get for 3k. the car itself is 1-2k for a 93 model. 93 would be the ideal year but others would do. in japan the 240sx or 180sx is called the s13 (89-94 240sx models). the s14 is 95-98 nissan models. the 98's are rarer then the other models. if you google nissan s15 you will see it's beauty. unfortunatly this car is only offered in japan (99-05 models) and expensive. with the s15 fromt end this car is outstanding. for a good tuner car under 20k, the 240 is a good choice. but if you could get your hands on a 97 supra with the 2jzdett engine......
