It's almost as though you went out of your way to find to most inflamitory post on IE8 rather than refering to your own site:
http://reviews.cnet.com/browsers/internet-explorer-8-beta/4505-3514_7-32890529.html?tag=cnetfd.mt
and while reading the article you skipped over the part where they call out google toolbar as being the culprit of the crashing. Jeez, good job at kicking someone while they are actively getting to standards compliance.
That explains a lot of things.
BOL might view MS with a skeptical eye but I hadly thinks it qualifies as "hate." However it is a little troubling they glossed over the Google Toolbar issue.
As I recall Tom did say we should cut MS a little slack because it's a beta 1.
I wish this forum had an edit feature....
Microsoft should be allowed to change their software and it should be up to other developers to update their software to be compatible with latest version, I mean... come on that's how software industry works.
There's no reason to say they're trying to deliberately disable google toolbar.
Don't forget we hate Aple too.
And puppies.
With an Apple TV, MacBook, iPhone? I think not.
Yesterday's podcast was another example of downplaying MS. You gave a list of features brought by the iPhone SDK such as remote device wipe, global address lookup, device policies and push e-mail, as if they were not ALL part of Exchange Activesync. Any Window Mobile 5 or 6 phone has ALL of those features already, but the way you report it its as if Apple invented it.
An iPhone user won't particularly care if windows mobile has it or not. ![]()
A non-iPhone user may find it useful to be informed that they can get these features a lot cheaper by buy buying a blackjack II, instead of an expensive, immature iPhone without GPS, 3G or a tactile keyboard.
Apple is clearly playing catch-up with the iPhone, but the way BOL reports it one would never know.
And you are merely looking at spec sheets?
It is everyone else that is playing catch up.
The spec sheet tells me such useful things as I can have turn by turn navigation with voice prompts so I am never lost, or I can tether my laptop in the park at DSL speeds, or I can take videos with my phone.
You know, useless things like that that iPhone owners dont need until Steve gives it to them.
It has google maps with a triangulation feature...
But yes, the tethering is a real gap in feature, still the point I was making is you're talking about small gaps in features, for a device that overall is years ahead.
If I had to make a lost of features the iPhone is missing it would take up most of the page.
Small fature gaps indeed.
Well, Molly has nothing but disdain for everything Apple. Apple is not perfect as a company, neither is Microsoft or any other company.
Do you not think that for the millions of people who have iPhones that this isn't major news?? Also activesync was a deal breaker for a lot of people so it being added is news for them.
Just because you obviously don't like apple doesn't mean that they should never be reported. Its also not like Molly hasn't had her fair share of criticism of the iPhone for not have exchange interoperability in the first place.
I can't even buy an iPhone yet, probably won't be able to till the 3G version comes out, yet I'm still interested. Who give a flying f**k.
Apple might be playing catch up on some regards but they are light years ahead with other aspects of iPhone and only behind RIM for smart phone market share. However the iPhone will integrate much better with an exchange server and no third party equipment will need to be added. This has much higher reliability then the system the RIM uses.
With MS track record with IE I don't think people being a little cautious is a bad thing. However they haven't just dismissed it completely, when they mad mistakes covering it they corrected it the next EP.
