Help please. About 5 days ago, I began to be unable to access Cnet (USA) and Cnet Asia on my hp dv2310 us Microsoft Vista Home Premium laptop. I can access though Cnet uk and Cnet australia.
When I use my old pentium III, Windows XP , I can view all cnet websites. I'm not sure what the problem is. Is it Vista, again?
I use the same isp and the same CAT 5 lan cable for both computers, and I never use them both at the same time.
I'm from the Philippines, South East Asia.
Each Cnet locality is run independently, frequently using different software, which can explain why some of the sites work while others don't. However, I'm wondering:
1.) What, if anything, is displayed? (Error message, partial website, blank blocks, blank screen...)
2.) Have you tried using another browser on your Vista computer, such as Firefox or Opera?
3.) Which parts of Cnet does it affect? (Just the cnet.com homepage, just the forums, just the reviews, or a combination?)
Let us know.
John
Good afternoon. I'm using my Pentium III, windows xp to post this, as I still cannot access cnet with my Vista Home premium laptop.
1. What I usually get is a white screen, totally blank, after about 3 to 5 minutes I get " Internet Explorer cannot display this website".
2. I've tried Firefox but to no avail. I haven't tried opera.
3. It affects all parts of Cnet ( Cnet US and Cnet Asia, MP3.com, Download.com)unfortunately
. I can easily access though Cnet UK and Cnet Australia
I've tried system restore on my computer but it does no work ( I previously made several restore points, unfortunately I cannot seem to successfully restore my laptop to the saved date when I could still access Cnet).
I'm hoping the soon to come Vista Service Pack one will fix this.
I had to do system restore from safe mode (with Windows Vista Home Premium) and my browsers finally fixed!
I actually got it fixed a while back.
I've learned my lesson. I will never, ever install "optional" updates for windows vista again.
