I have an idea.. What if I got a pda, a data only (PDA Personal) plan from at&t for it
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-plans/pda-personal-plans.jsp
and installed skype on the pda? Wouldn't I then have unlimited internet, email, text (through email, if you know how to do it) and unlimited calling? I'd have to pay for skype, but it'd be a really cheap option. Please tell me if there is a flaw in this. Thanks, Brian
I have. Not a solution today.
Why? Was the PDA too bulky, or did skype not work well on it, or what? And when you tried it, were you using one of the new, high speed networks like EVDO? Just checking. Thanks, Brian
Now look at the cpu in the PDA+Phone. But let's skip to the bottom line. Be sure to test it before you part with money. For me it was a failure.
Thanks for the advice! I seriously hadn't thought about testing it, even thought that's pretty much the most logical thing to do. Thanks again, Brian
The latency is too slow to support skype on mobile pda's. Your best bet is to utilize a PDA that utilizes a EVDO rev A chip from Sprint or Verizon. THe latency is good enough in theory, and there is enough bandwith up and down to support it..
I'll look into it. I'll probably talk it over in person at sprint and at&t (don't think I'd ever get through with Verizon). I have until August to figure it out. Thanks again, Brian
PS> I tried returning my Sager laptop that I was posting about a while back, but the sound is at too high of a frequency for them to hear. I'm guessing since I'm younger, I can hear it. I'll have to ask my parents or someone if they can hear it to. If they can, oh well, because Sager really wasn't going to do anything. They kept saying they couldn't hear it. Kinda sucks, but unless I'm trying to setup 8 channel surround sound, I think I can hold back on using it with my speakers and just deal with it. I'll remember what you said about off brand computers, too. Thanks again again, Brian
