Windows Me: Hi, ME people

Hi, ME people

Over the last several days I've been wondering back in time a bit too this time last year. When I was using Windows ME. I learned a lot from Me. Despite it's bad press, it wasn't half that bad. I'm currently using Vista but went through a crash course with XP Professional SP2 first.

Here's few suggestions for you:

Defrag on system start up, right before log on. You can set this up automatically in task scheduler. Defrag is fast in Me, wait to you get XP or Vista, slow, slow, slow. I found it was best to run it several times to compact the hard drive.

If you can find a program with an automatic shut down box in it, you can run ScanDisk at bed time. Just start it then go to bed.

Updates can be very time consuming. Do what you can to speed them up. This is a list of all updates for ME from Microsoft

Hardware can be found at your local neighborhood garage sale for little or no cost. Don't be afraid to do a few modifications. Double check on the web to make sure everything is compatible before you install.
