I will be traveling and living in some very hot conditions over the next few years. There may be times that I am camping in 110+ degree weather in parts of Africa. I question if a good camera bag can at all keep a camera from melting in those conditions. While I'm not a professional photographer and don't want to spend over $400, is there a camera I can take on travels that would withstand this heat?
I was looking at buying a Sony and talked to the tech people there. The melting point for one of their high end cameras was 104 degrees. I asked if there were any of theirs with higher melting points and was told no.

I wonder if you could test a few before you leave?
I only have this concern after my friend spent 4 months in camping conditions in Madagascar where all 18 interns there had their cameras melt.
..melts, you will melt before that. I suggest buying your camera in Africa. It may be conditioned to the conditions of the environment there. And you get warranty...
We have heard from several US soldiers in Iraq and they have not reported any heat problems with their digital cameras.
I keep a digital camera in my car and my truck.
In the summer, the temperature inside the vehicles can reach well over 110 degrees.
I have not had any trouble with either camera.
I would suggest that you never leave the camera setting in direct sunlight for long periods of time.
