I am worried about my campus authorities snooping in on my internet usage while I'm using their internet connections lan and otherwise.
Currently I have McAfee and the latest security updates from Microsoft but I have to use a program called Cisco Clean Access Agent in order to use their network to reach the internet and it requires me to enter a user name and password that is unique to me.
I am wondering if there is a way to prevent them from looking in on my internet usage. I figure my security on my computer is decent but that I have no way of stopping them once I'm on their network.
If it goes through their routers and network they can see your usage. And don't ask how to bypass this. They probably can't see into your machine, but when you access their equipment they will have, or can get, a log of usage.
Have a wireless network or pay for your own.
Another option is to set up tunneling; but, you will still need to access through their server.
If you are willing for the challenge. Set up plan9 on an old computer and have it with bind and dhcp for you only.
I don't have any experience with the product, and don't know if it will work in your situation, but thought you might be interested in http://www.anonymizer.com
Give Folder Lock a try. Works for me.
Use an encrypted security tunnel like SurfSolo from www.securstar.com. It uses 256 bit Blowfish encryption that can not be read at the servers.
Forum Policies prevent discussion of ways to violate or circumvent rules/laws in order to access computers or networks and the like.
The information already provided above should get things started.
