I have a Philips Plasma (ambilight) with the full multimedia ports on the side. I have successfully used an SD card and a USB memory stick to show photos and play audio tracks... so I hoped to jump the next level. Does anyone know why an external (usb) harddrive won't work? I have the 42" ambilight by Philips and a Maxtor One Touch III 500GB USB external drive... The TV 'sees' the maxtor drive and when selected it seems to show two directories (whether they existed or not - Pictures & Audio)... but when selected or try to advance to 'next' directory TV displays 'no playable files'???? I used same files, same format, same directories as USB mem stick & SD card BUT it doesn't work. I can use SD card and ext. HDD at same time and SD card works - HDD doesn't?? ANY IDEAs?
Still checking... but according to Philips - TV only reconizes FAT32/DOS file system... according to Windows the drive only supports NTFS file system??? Any 'fixes' to the formating the drive issue or am I stuck with incompatible hardware?
or at least it use to. My last windows was/is win2000.
you need to use Disk Manager in Windows to delete the current partiotion, make a new one and format that as FAT32. You'll lose the current contents during such an operation.
