Splitting a 96 MB - mp3 File

by BPS277 - 2/4/08 5:17 AM

At the Church I attend, they recently recorded a Pastor's Conference. They recorded the entire thing in 1 sitting (it's all in 1 File) Now, they can't open it in Audacity or burn it to CD. The File is 96 MB big. I think the recording time is 103 minutes and as you know CD's are only 80 minutes. I need something that would burn a large mp3 File such as this to multiple CD's. I would appreciate any suggestions as I don't work with a lot of mp3, so I'm not sure what to do.
>The O/S is Windows 2000, Windows Media Player 6, The MP3 program "Audacity", it's not connected to the internet, and it's only used for recording Church Services and making CD's of the Service. Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated! Thank You

Thanks for your reply. Yes I now have lame on their and have the file split. But, I still wonder why an hour and a half of speaking would equal such a large file. I D/L half hour audio mp3 and their only 3-MB, but even when I split the file and got it successfully copied to a CD is was still 48 MB per CD. So these they record are equal to about 32 MB per half hour - seems kinda large doesn't it?

There are fine web articles about bitrates, mono vs. stereo for lectures so without knowing what settings you used I can't comment.

HOWEVER, the number of megabytes for AudioCD is much higher and proper for that standard.

mp3 vs cd track

Mp3's can be heard better than audio cd's. Cd;s have 256 bytes , you can set an mp3 to be at 512 but the size will also increase...
