I have XP Pro on my computer and after installing new updates for windows media player, the player no longer works its not even accessable. When I try to start the player a message pops up telling me to restart my computer and to log in as a system administrator or a member of administrators group to finish installing media player. I am the only one named in my computer I am the administrator. Can someone PLEASE HELP, im so confused. Thank you so much

To access hidden XP pro admintsrator:
Go to the log in screen. Press ctrl + alt + delete twice. Username: Administrator (then login if you don't remember putting in a password at installation of windows)

Try re installing windows media player.
Try system restore.

I have tried to do a system restore on my computer. I follow all the steps to restore to an earlier date and it acts like its doing it, when it reboots it says unable to restore no changes have been made at this time. I think maybe my computer has been wrecked, I just dont know whats going on. I hope its fixable...?

Media Player 11 Tips

Hi, fisrt I do agree that you should re-install media player only. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. Then open add/remove programs, then click addremove windows components and uncheck the Windows Media player box, apply and ok your way out of the screens , reboot and repeat , this time checking the Windows Media player box to re-install it. You will be down graded in Media Player version, but it will probably work fine. If you need audio/video codecs or decide to upgrade to Media player 11, follow my additional tips on getting the proper codecs to play DivX / XVid and all kinds of media files, from my article here:

To make things even stevens, post links to Cnet articles, your article or other articles. Using just your site will get your posts removed.
