I have to say, I use eBay as a last resort option. I like Craigslist more because of the simplicity of the purchase process (although "Buy It Now" is a worthy competitor) but also for the community.
Also, regarding the "no negative complaints about buyers written by sellers" - if the eBay complaint system was compelling and effective to use, this issue probably wouldn't be significant in the first place, right?
Best,
Shalin
Craigslist holds the fundamental ability to let people know you have something for sale. It is the popular online equivalent to running a classified ad in your newspaper.
Regarding the Ebay complaint system, it seems that the system should be smart enough to recognize when both parties are dissatisfied and classify that separately into "bad transaction experience" or something similar. There should be a separate between seller ratings and purchaser ratings.
I have actually started selling more and more on Amazon Marketplace and must say it does everything I could hope for.
