I've been combing review sites for months and have even subscribed to a pay site for their info but can't pull the trigger. Now I'm four days from my honeymoon and need to make something happen quickly.
I don't want the hassle of carrying/changing lenses while on vacation so I don't want a DSLR for this purchase.
What I'm looking for:
10+ optical zoom
8+ mp
Larger body
Hotshoe (but not a deal breaker if it doesn't have it)
But, out of all of these issues, it is a camera...I want the BEST quality of shots...so DSLR quality images out of an advanced digital camera.
I'm thinking I want my cutoff in price to be less than $400.
Thanks in advance...
I think I would like a camera that uses SD media because (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the industry is going SD's direction as a universal storage format and the prices for that media are coming down.
BUT, I just read a glowing review on the FinePix S9100 which uses xD. Is xD really on its way out and prices on their way up?
The Canon S5 and Panasonic FZ18 have received the best reviews of the superzooms. Other superzooms with more than 10x optical zoom that have also gotten good reviews are the Sony H9, Olympus SP560 and the Fuji S8000. The Sony H9 uses only Sony's memory stick and the Olympus uses only XD cards.
The Kodak Z812, Sony H3, Canon sx100 and Panasonic TZ3 also have at least 10x optical zoom and have received good reviews, but are smaller cameras.
