Bell Mobility Canada has been offering an Unlimited EDVO Data Service since October 2007 at a whopping $75.00 a month. After two (2) plus months of service I received a letter informing me that I violated Bell's fare use policy by transferring in excess of 5GB a month in each of the previous 2 months!!
Apparently, if I change my plan to a metered service that will result in data charges in excess of $12,000.00 month based on there the largest volume metered service that includes 1 GB of Data with additional MB at 3 each they won't have any problems with my usage.
Fortunately, I was on a month to month contract and not a multi-year contract or Bell would be holding responsible for the remaining months of my contract.
Buyer be ware..
Speaking to Consumerist might be worth your time. Unlimited does not = 5GB per month. Fight back for your contractual rights.
I don't know about the laws in Canada, but you could very easily claim false advertising, as noted above unlimited DOES NOT=5GB.
