I read a thing that shows Comcast's rates will be going up in my area (Vancouver, WA) by about $4-$5 per month. Anyone know why? I mean, seriously? DirecTV came out with new HD channels this year and didn't raise their rates, AFAIK. Comcast got some new HD channels this year, but now with the price increase they aren't competitive. Not that they were really all that competitive in the first place, given all those other cable monopolies in my area.
Anyone else with Comcast getting their rates jacked up? Anyone seriously considering calling to ask why? Or already called?
I'm guessing that you don't have Verizon's FIOS in your area. Here in Philly, FIOS is definitely keeping a cap on Comcast (at least for now). Comcast has had to match Verizon with the $99 Internet/Phone/TV offer. For some reason, cable hasn't really feared Satellite. Yet FIOS is really hitting them hard.
Mine in NH is getting raised by $5 too. We have no alternative, Verizon DSL (not FIOS) is available at 1.5MPS because I am too far from a CO. Our rates wont go down for a long time as Verizon is trying to sell all of its lines in northern New England to some small company, Fairpoint. No chance for us to ever get FIOS now so Comcast is doing its happy cable lets raise rates dance
