I purchased a samsung LN-T4071F and the day it arrived it wouldn't work. It had lines running down the screen and was very fuzzy. That aside the company I purchased from quickly took back the tv for an exchange. The problem was they had no more of that samsung in stock. So I was givin the option of waiting for it or getting a different tv all together that is in stock. They are charging the same price for the pioneer PDP-4280HD which is a 42" plasma.
So my question is for somebody like myself that doesn't play video games but does watch a lot of sports which tv would be best in your opinion. Also my living room is relatively small and has a large window. I realize that alot of it has to do with personal preference but if you were in my shoes which would you choose?
I have read all of your reviews and articles about this subject just wondering what an expert would choose in my situation and why? Thank you for any advice you can give.
EXCELLENT 42" HDTV. GRAB IT BEFORE THE SUPERBOWL XLII and this year's
"MARCH MADNESS" tourney. Get the best price you can get and watch for
price-match deals. But, mostly sit back and enjoy!!!
River.
for sports I think the pioneer would be the better choice.
i'm kind of stuck on the 1080p thing, so i wouldn't get either.
but between the two, the pioneer's clearly the better choice.
please note that i have not compared these tv's side by side or compared prices on the pioneer, but:
1. several reviews i have read point to motion artifact issues with the samsung 71 series.
2. the 720p resolution should not matter too much on such a "small,", 42 inch screen.
if it's between the two, the pioneer's the way to go.
JUST REMEMBER 'TIS THE TIME TO BUY.........
Best wishes,
River.
the samsung is 1080p, 120 htz
if all you want is bigger numbers the samsung wins.
but if you want best picture the pioneer wins every time.
i didn't word it well but my point was that what you theoretically give up in resolution (you're comparing a 1080p samsung and a 720p pioneer), you make up in all other aspects of the tv, and per many reviews, including better picture quality with the pioneer.
good luck!
1080 vs 720 on a 42" screen really doesn't make a difference. Get the Pioneer, its by far a better product.
It seems to be a landslide for the Pioneer. The only thing I was a little concerned with was that this was one of the highest end model Samsungs compared to the bottom of the line Pioneer. I wasn't sure how they would measure up. Apparently everybody still likes the Pioneer over the samsung though. Thanks for all the help. I'm going Pioneer.
Riverledge.
Im a 7 year vet at BBY that is the manager of the HT Dept, so I know my insight will show you why you should buy the Pioneer. This TV is the only 42" that can take a signal through HDMI and play it at 1080p. Don't believe me, go to your local BBY and ask them to hook up a Blu-Ray or a HD DVD player with a HDMI cable and watch the magic. Granted this might be upconverted for my Plasma hatters, but I bet you a free Monster Screen Cleaner that it will look better than any other 1080p plasma thats not named "Elite". This TV is the best 42" we have to offer, but it is priced high for a so called "720p", but with this info and with a good price on it you better take it, & thats for all of yall on this blog.
