Using Shure's e4c headphones. Been looking at the new Iaudio 7, the old Sony Walkman NW-HD5. Maybe the Zen V Plus is a viable option... Been using Iaudio Cowon A2 thus far, which broke, the damned thing.
Thanks!
The X5 has been an audiophile favorite for years, but it's been discontinued
wait for the iAudio X7, the successor, should be out within a month
there are some custom firmware for selected players that might have more of the audiophile features. The most prominent is Rockbox that supports selected Archos, iRiver, Toshiba, SanDisk, and Apple players
That is true, the iAudio players are some of the best sounding players on the market but also look into the new Sony NWZ-S610 & A810 series as these have some of the best sound also (I own the iAudio D2 AND the Sony NWZ-S618). The Sony has a surprisingly clean and crisp sound that you can TOTALLY customize. Rockbox is also a great alternative to the firmware on some devices as you can alter the sound on some players to your hearts content. Just be warned that I've heard through some forums that the Rockbox os can hit the battery pretty had in some cases.
The Zen players may sound decent but if you had an iAudio already the Zen will be a disappointment (not very loud and the sound is not as good as reviewers claim - check user reviews).
