Pls Tell Me How To Avoid NY Tax

by Shakespear777 - 1/13/08 8:59 AM

Pls recommend a good discount supplier that can sell high quality Pioneer plasma and surround system outside of NY State so I can avoid the NY tax. Thanks

There are quite a few. Vanns out of Montana, for example.

Look to ResellerRatings.com as a source of finding really good sellers.

one thing to be very very aware of

by jostenmeat - 1/13/08 2:21 PM In reply to: Pls Tell Me How To Avoid NY Tax by Shakespear777

is that Pioneer is extremely picky about "Authorized dealers" if you want the warranty to remain intact. I am not sure that ANY online dealer qualifies, including Vann's, or Visual Apex, etc.

but, if its a great deal, its a great deal! no arguing that...

surround system is no problem.

YES, THEY DO BECAUSE VANN'S (multiple stores), ONE CALL ...

OF CALIF, and VISUAL APEX, all have brick and mortars locations. ONE CALL has a distribution center in PA for faster delivery to the East Coast. All three are NY tax-free. Full one-year PIONEER warranties, included.

Remember that CC and BBY have on-line sites yet offer full warranties.

Good shopping,

Riverledge.

great to know River!

but I do swear some popular product (perhaps not Pioneer) from one of those stores was not being warrantied.

To the OP, Im sure River knows exactly what he is saying regarding Pioneer, but for any other random product, please ask the store directly.

I've done this exact thing myself before.

I'M SURE SOME OF THE MORE ESOTERIC BRANDS HAVE.............

by Riverledge - 1/13/08 9:05 PM In reply to: great to know River! by jostenmeat

SOME EXTREME POLICIES; PARTICULARY SPEAKER MANUFACTURERS and imported electronics firms. BOSE comes to mind.......but I don't know about them really.

Best shopping to all,

River.

your supposed to pay sales tax on an item you get regardless of if the retailer takes it out.

??? If that were the case the seller would be pocketing

the extra margin. Government has encouraged the internet specically by passing & recently renewing the sales tax exemption. It obviously makes local merchants mad. But the online sales tax arrangement is to be exempt except for when having a place of business within that state, then the state often wants to collect that sales tax.

The deal is part of the reason to buy online. States would like "their" revenue, but it's the feds that started this.
