I've been using Adaware SE for years, but for some reason when I click to update, which are now 18 days behind,I get a message that there are no new updates.I running winXP.any ideas on this?thanks for any help.
Lavasoft recommend to users to upgrade to Ad-Aware 2007 (also freeware)
Ad-Aware SE (Free) is no longer supported.
But the definitions (update) for Ad-Aware SE is available for manual download:
http://download.lavasoft.com/public/defs.zip or http://www.lavasoft.com/single/mirror_download.php?f=948DEWk12
No word yet if that will be available all the time.
Thanks for the info. I can't believe I missed that. Will download the new 2007.
Thanks much for the link--downloads in a sec and drag to Ad Aware folder
Replaces the defs.ref file--your good to go.
I have been using Ad-Aware for almost a year, and I have not had any problems with updates from this program. I received an alert stating that my definitions were outdated. Wattash, states that its Ad-Aware is 18 days out of date. WELL! I have him beat. My Ad-Aware states that I have not received updates for 703,485 days, this would take me in to the year 2001BC. The time of the pyramids and the sundial. The pre-ad-aware era of the great and noble Pharaoh AdAware. You know. King Tut's half baked brother.
Did Mark Anthony use Ad-Aware? Only Cleo knows for sure.
With my definitions being 2001 years out of date, was my computer around at the time of the Mayans???? Since I am running Vista. Was Vista out 4000 years ago? Did they find Vista in the ruins of a Buddhist temple, or was Vista a long forgotten deity that was worshiped by some ancient race long since forgotten through time.
703,485 days old!!!!!!! Give me a break.
Wattash, I hope that you do not become as out dated as I. Live long and become backdated.
Running Ad-Aware SE Personal ver build 1.06r1
42 days old
new defs dated 12.27.07 loaded today and ran successfully

Now for the reason to respond with my first post to Cnet:
I have read CNet for years and always found their information timely and correct. It is 'dry' and correct information.
NOW kristianna Thomas has put a whole new spin on user feedback! I was laughing so loud and hard I had to walk away and get some water :)))
Well done KT - go get a real job using your prose! IT is over rated!
and YES Vista is from off-world only found in stone wall paintings (you've seen them: stick figure with spear jabbing thru 'monitor' with 4 legs!)
Cheers!
I DID have peppermint tea come through my nose, though!
...That's why I was yelling, "SUE!"
OMG, the BOTH of you are hilarious!!!!!

Myself included, unable for same period. However, they may be trying to get us to switch to their new version for 2007 and that would be a big mistake.
ZDNET has done an indepth trials on it and found the new version to be the worst version of any on the market. Thus I would advise all to just use the original version as is until They get wise and issue more updates.
Thx much
It won't even install on my Vista Home Premium. I keep getting the attached error:
Internal Error 2203. C:\Windows\Installer\14557421.ipi,-2147287035
Any thoughts?
Try to verify that the "Windows Installer Service" is running
Click Start, click Run, type services.msc
Locate "Windows Installer" service then click it.
Click "Start"
Close the Services console window.
Try to install Ad-Aware 2007 again.
I have also been using Ad-Aware SE personal for years and to come bluntly I do not like 2007, I am still using Ad-Aware Se personal even though a pop up tells me how many days it is out dated.
Before I go to 2007 I will try another program that I have from CNET.
(Good Luck Every Body)
Thank You Very Much:
Wendell H.
For one, the older version no longer worked anymore and for another, the 2007 sets a more reliable restore point than using Windows XP Home Edition. Use XP and I get renamed files/folders but not the same for Ad-Aware 2007.
It is similar to Microsoft doing away with support for WIN98, WIN98SE, WINME, WINNT and WINXP Service Pack 1. There is a Service Pack 3 but it may be a Beta. I have WIN95 on a HDD, WIN98SE & WINME CD's[some of my media sounds are from 98SE in XP. Keeping up with the times isn't easy but necessary [IMO]and even my wallpapers are from WINME.
Removed all parts from my Gateway desktop and they are in an ASUS now, ones I can't use are going to my repairman. Darrell
