Great CES Coverage

by rvillela - 1/8/08 7:17 AM

Just wanted to say kudos for the great CES Coverage so far. I'll confess that for a while I had been slowly shifting my tech reading to Engadget, but they have totally flubbed their CES coverage. I promise I'll be more faithful from now on.

And at the risk of being flamed... after seeing Natali on camera all I have to say is: "Veronica who?" It's refreshing to go more than 10 minutes without hearing about WoW.

to each their own...

I think Natali would be a *fantastic* advocate/reporter for introducing technology to the younger set (e.g. high school and younger). I think it'll be a little bit before she resembles the journalists that cover tech that are more impressive - at least there are some good influences at CNET.

I am glad to say that I'm appreciating the pizzaz, etc. that Brian Tong is bringin' during CES - several weeks ago, I thought he was jacked up on too many red bulls and otherwise a bit annoying. The others covering the show are great - insightful, professional, and trustworthy...aspects that I'd expect Natali and Brian will gain with more experience.

wait...this belongs in the CNETTV or Speakeasy forums. okay no more from me on this topic in this forum for the rest of the week...

Jacked Up!

by Dirty Pirate - 1/8/08 8:12 AM In reply to: to each their own... by shawnlin

HA! He is.. just that there isn't enough red bull to help you get through CES. He would be able to keep the levels high enough. And all that recycled air you have to breath.

I used to go to INTEROP/Networld and Comdex, and it would take me 2 days recovery. I don't think I ever EVER covered as much ground in 4 days like I did there.

If I ever go to some show like that again, I am taking a Segway and I am going to outfit the wheels with blades like you see in Ben Hur during the chariot races.

More Natali

I like her coverage. Hopefully we'll see more in the future...

Great job!

I'm really enjoying CNet's coverage. It's clean, comprehensive, and fun. It's one thing to read about this stuff, it's another to experience it via the easy-to-use interface. CNetTV has come a long way in a very short time and I appreciate the work the hosts and crew are putting into the show. Keep it up!

I hope CNet's gets its act together. I like the Engadgets and the Gizmodos of the world, but CNet is in a class by itself in terms of the amount of useful information and variety of content.

Correction...

That second to last sentence should have read "I hope CNet's governing body gets it's act together."

As far as I remember...

by earlysound - 1/8/08 7:59 PM In reply to: Great CES Coverage by rvillela

I only talked about WoW on the podcast, not in CES videos. :)

Surrrrrrrrrrrrrrre you didn't...

;)

Actually, with the recovery from CES 2008, I've completely lost any memory of the prior year's coverage.

And about that Segway with the blades: can I please have one? It would make my job soooooooo much easier. Ship it by MacWorld, wouldya?

Thanks for all the happy thoughts on this year's coverage, folks!

Granted

by rvillela - 1/11/08 7:06 PM In reply to: As far as I remember... by earlysound

OK. I'll give you that. I really never watched much of the CNet videos, but I have always been a huge BOL junkie (from episode 1 I must add).

So my bad. I think it was when I saw the Alienware curved monitor video on Engadget and you brought up WoW - it just crossed a couple wires in my brain.

Still this was the best CES coverage yet. I live in Vegas and I've got to say that I much rather keep up on the feeds than brave the strip during CES. So thanks to all.

I think Cranky Geeks was the best.

by isting - 1/11/08 8:37 PM In reply to: Great CES Coverage by rvillela

Dvorak did something totally off the wall and covered other stuff in Vegas and not CES. It was kind of cool. He went to the pinball museum and showed some rare pinball machines. The podcast was weird and cool at the same time. It was not the typical CES coverage.

That's the joke right

CES is so boring, lets cover old pinball machines!

Yay.

Congrats to CNET for great CES coverage!

This years CES was not a "wowy" CES. There wasn't a single thing that got everyone's attention.
