OK, this is going to sound strange, so here's the background. My dad got a 30G iPod last year; he was doing some local-history podcasts for the university so they gave it to him. Now, he has lots of music but it's on CDs and tapes and he's never going to get around to ripping so last week I asked if I could have it. Score!
No doubt it came with an instruction booklet, but it wasn't found in the Drawer of No Return. So, i have the iPod, a USB cord, and earphones.
My silly questions:
--Should there be a charger? Or does the USB cord do double-duty?
--How does one go about putting music on it? Can it be as simple as drag-n-drop in Windows, or do i need special software?
I live out in the sticks so there's no Apple store I can go to for help. If it turns out I need more stuff than I have, i'll have to go make a pilgrimage to NY.
Thanks!
So just do that.
As to installing tunes, go get iTunes and start trying to use that.
To charge your ipod you need a usb 2 port. If you want a charger any store like Walmart or such has chargers to purchase. The download for itunes is free and can be googled . Apple.com has some wonderful videos to help you with using your ipod. You can get videos on your particular ipod and itunes has a help choice up at the top of the menu. If you can use your media windows player you will have no problems. Good Luck!
I went through the same thing when I first got my iPod. You charge the iPod through a computer or you can buy the charger and charge it. Oh and you need to install iTunes in order to put music on the iPod. Just install and put cds in and it will automatically put music on it.
Another way to charge it is if you have a stereo with an ipod dock, when its on there it charges. Its awesome cause i have one and i just put my ipod on and wake up to music and then my ipods ALWAYS fully charged. And you can get ipod stereos that also play cds too. So theres another option for you.
