Beyond losing the 10-15 pounds I have gained since I retired (Dr's orders) and finishing some long overdue home projects (wife's "orders") not a thing will be as a New Year's resolution. I don't even remember them in a week: OF=CRS!!!
and I never will. I make a resolution every day of my life to live that day to the fullest. You never know which day will be your last and it's important to make a positive difference with your life. Most people are too afraid to make changes and are too worried about what other people think. I resolve every day not to live like that.
I've been kind and helpful to everyone all my life. I don't see any results justifying it. So this year I will be baaaad....
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body
thoroughly used up and totally worn out, screaming "WOO HOO - What a Ride!"
I will not subscribe to or renew magazines. Believe it or not, friends have given me four new magazine subcriptions. I will get through my piles of outdated mags this year.
If you truly want to resolve to do something "just do it" don't wait for the New Year. If you have to wait for the New Year, are you really going to be disciplined enough to follow thru? Doubtful!
I don't make resolutions or 5-year plans. Between having been a military dependent, a dutiful daughter, and later wife, my plans never had precedence. I decided in 2002 to stop making plans. Instead, I determine what values are really important to me, and I now focus on living my life in accord with my values. I keep myself open to new possibilities and review my values for priority periodically. I have found that if something really is important to me opportunities will appear that I never would have thought of, and had I tried to plan I would have missed them.
resolutions tend to be unattainable/noble/ideals
used to make new years resolutions. would be totally depressed at years end when new years resolution not met.
far happier not making a resolution, can relax and enjoy the year end party, especially when I hear friends, colleagues moaning that they didnt keep theirs.
