LG Voyager Ringtone Format

by buckstermcgee - 12/22/07 9:54 PM In reply to: Ringtone format for LG Voyager by amarkwardt

As fas as I can tell it's .mp3 wrapped as .mid

So what i did was record a file as .mp3 30 to 25 seconds or less, and then once it's saved change the .mp3 at the end to .mid

It might work for the other formats that the Voyager can play but i haven't try that yet.

What software do you use to prepare and transfer the files?

Send it as a pix. Send your renamed MP3 BY EMAIL!

Once you have renamed your MP3 as a .MID file, you simply email it as from your email client to your cellphone number with VZW to picture messaging and wait. IE: 1235551212@vzwpix.com and you will receive it on your Voyager and be able to save as a ringtone. Voila! No special anything needed!

conversion trouble

How do I convert the mp3 file over to .mid? The software I have to create ringtones doesn't handle that format, and the only software I found to do it seems to be less than desirable. I was able to successfully email it as a pix, but it sounds horrible.

cropping your ringtone

Use Cellware.com, its free, easy, and most phones you can send it right to your phone. I have the Voyager through Verizon so I use this picture email method explained above. I just got my phone a few days ago and already have 25 ringtones. All my favorite songs from my ipod and haven't spent a single cent. I do have unlimited messages in my phone plan, so if you don't have that, there may be messaging fee's. Good luck and let me know if you need help of have questions. Also, there are funny movie clip out the on the web. Those are great for creating funny ringtones as well. If you can find or make an MP3, then you pay nothing (except maybe a message fee
)

How to send ringtone via email...

by WiredNot - 2/8/09 9:52 PM In reply to: email by luvlivesmile

Hi luvlivesmile,

Yes, the audio file must be sent as an attachment to a text message and addressed to [your phone number]@vzwpix.com. This is your phone's MMS (multimedia messaging system) email address. MMS messages can have photos, videos and audio files attached to them.

As soon as the message arrives at your Voyager and you open it, the audio file will begin to play. Select the "Option" command (right soft key) and save the audio file as a ringtone while it is playing.

You do NOT need to convert the file beforehand---your Voyager will handle this for you. I've sent numerous wma files and they are converted to ringtone files when you select the save as ringtone option. I prefer wma files because they sound better than mp3 with similar compression settings.

After you've saved the audio file as a ringtone, you can delete your original message with its attachment.

Finally, I use Adobe Audition to prepare my audio files. It is a professional non-linear audio editing program so it may be overkill for most readers. All you need is an audio editor that can save an mp3 and/or wma file.

Best regards, WiredNot

How to cut a mp3 down to 25-30 secs

by UFMike - 3/29/09 6:23 PM In reply to: How to send ringtone via email... by WiredNot

I would use Audacity it's FREE and extremely easy to use.

Free download just google. GREAT program it does a lot of different things

I use it to take swears out of songs as well as a digital recorder. It also for example will take the audio right out of a youtube video etc...
