Best FM Reception MP3 player??
by gorkist - 12/17/07 12:26 AMI work 10-12 hrs a day, and sometimes i need more than music that i packed in my player, unfortunately, most of the time the battery ran out faster.
Other problem is that i work indoor, so the fm reception on my mp3 player (sansa c240) has lots of static on some spots of my work place, and it doesn't catch many stations, and the worst thing is that no preset, so instead of going backwards .. i have to go and turn around all the way forward. This and static problem kinda huge for me.
So i need help from your experiences, to give me info about mp3 player of my criterias :
- At least has 1 gig
- Using AA or AAA battery so i can bring spares with me (or at least the lithium that lasts more than 24hrs)
- Very strong FM (AM would be nice too) Reception
- Under $75 .. cos i don't need a fancy one while i'm working
People may not really care or selective about fm function, so they may just say this one has good reception or not, without even bother comparing & testing it seriously, that's why this become my first thread to cnet.

My old Sony CD Walkman D-NF420 can get FM 24 hr weather from NOAA, which I find very useful in the mountains of NH, as well as TV (sound)reception (much less useful. The NOAA reception is spotty but good enough. Regular FM station such as NPR can also be weak on this Sony model. So this 2007 question, to which I found no reply, is of interest to me. Which player(s)if any might give good FM reception, reception around 162.5MHz (NOAA)with easy presets and reasonable battery life? I suppose these days I would expect 4 Gb.
Maybe a suggestion?

Hi there.
Since there haven't been any responses, maybe I might suggest taking a look at the Samsung S3 (4 or 8GB). It's got a 20+ battery life (internal), and does has FM, and even a feature that allows you to record from the FM station you're listening to (if you have a favorite radio show you'd like to save).

Sony AM/FM walkman
by bozobrain - 4/2/09 6:45 AM In reply to: Best FM Reception MP3 player?? by gorkistSony makes a few AM/FM walkmen that aren't actually MP3 players, but are pretty small, take AA or AAA batteries (and last a long time on them), start up immediately. Go to Amazon and search for Sony AM/FM walkman. I have the SRF-59 and I use it very occasionally.
I guess it would be in addition to an MP3 player, not a replacement for one. But, for $15 or $20, not too shabby.
