iTunes LIbrary without the HardDrive Question

by leoncarpenter01 - 12/16/07 3:50 PM

I was trying to determine a way to save my MacBooks overloaded hardrive. The culprit was a lot of music, video, and podcasts taking up space. I created a linux box from old PCs around the house and transfered the Itunes library there But now when I take my laptop anywhere thats NOT my home network I dont have any music! =(
I thought that maybe I could get a hosting service through godaddy (who already hosts my domain) and upload music library there? That way I could just point iTunes library there for folder? Has anyone tried this or does anyone have better suggestions? I have about 60 gigs of media. Thanks!

a VPN?

if you want to take the time you cuold create a computer to do the basic file hosing on your system.

then create a network share to the computer.

then setup a VPN (virtual private network) that will allow you to connect to your home network and it acts like its plugged in..

this would allow your computer to "stream" some... but it will only go as fast as your connection will allow.

I would recomend Hamatci to setup the network... it allows a virtual private network over the internet easily.
