I have T5230 eMachine with VISTA...

by Rusted Soul - 10/13/07 9:21 AM

It keeps shutting it self down after displaying a blue screen saying something about a Kernal problem [noticed that this last time] But not sure of anything else other than Kernal thing. It also says it is going to do a crash dump. I bought it 7/7/2007 from BB and have already had to replace it 8/4/2007 it is still doing it even after a COMPLETE Re-install adding nothing but the OS. I bought this Brand/Model based on some of the good things I read here. I hope there is a solution. I also need a new Internet Security software cause I think there is a conflict with the McAffee that came with it as an extra something about mcproxy.exe . MAIN concern is the BLUE screen and self-reboot. Please help, thanks

Keep taking it back.

It has a warranty and if it's taken back enough times they usually offer you a chance to exchange it for something else.

I am considering buying a T5230 but...

have a concern.
I had T2200 which I used for about 4 years but has now crapped out. The main problem with it was the fan - it won't shut off unless you shut down the machine. Because of that I had to replace the fan twice. Also, it was very noisy. Other than that, I was fairly happy with it.

So, what is the situation with T5230? Is the machine quiet? Does the fan slow down or shut down as needed?

Thanks.

I own an emachines t5230 and the hard drive is extremely loud. The other problem is that 1gb is not enough RAM to handle windows vista. You can upgrade to 2gb on this box but i would suggest looking elsewhere. This is the 5th emachines computer that i have owned and have been happy with my other ones for the price but i cannot recommend this one.
