It Depends On What You Want It To Do..

Is it for a business situation or just your general "home" personal use.. How much scanning do you do?

Personally, I find the new "All-in-one" or "three-in-one" combination tools great.. I bought an HP C4180 printer, scanner, copier a while back and it does what I need it to do at home. At less than $100 it, prints decent pictures on Photo paper..,,,, it also scans pictures or documents to file as most file types,,,,. Makes both black & white or color copies without turning on the computer and most importantly, because it's fairly small and compact, I don't have to have a separate spot on the desk for both a printer and a scanner.

Although the C4180 is now a little old and that specific model number may not be available, similar ones should be in your local office store advertisements. There are a number of such devices by various manufacturers and you simply need to decide how much money you want to spend. Check for printing speed, print quality, scanner quality, and other such important specifications.

Hope this helps.

simply, yes, you can get a good scanner for $125 or less, personally I'd suggest getting a separate scanner, not an all-in-one (just a personal preference)

I'd look at Canon and Epson, generically I'd suggest something like this:

sorry i didn't explain a little better what i planned to use it for, which is personal home use. one thing i want to do is scan old family photos and then organize them, but i've never even used a scanner before and was confused by all the numbers used to describe them. i've done some research online, and tomorrow i plan to visit circuit city and best buy.

thanks again.
