Dell Inspiron 8000, xp, 15" screen, works flawlessly.
Recently, during the boot up phase, I notice what seem to be light colored "flare" type spots on the left side of the screen. Usually there is just one, maybe the size of a fifty cent piece just above center on the left side. Sometimes there is a slightly small spot, just below center on the left.
I'm guessing this is a leading indicator of something. Screen degradation? Or graphics card getting ready to push daisies?
Anyone seen this before? Thanks, and Happy Holidays!
I fyou like run diags for the video display, you can use MS DX diags for a quick test, did this:
goto start->run->type DXDIAG, then enter, follow prompts
If you have a decent video card, it should provide similar testing, goto its display properties and find the vendors test mode.
However, if the test seem OK, you may a monitor going out or someone touched the LCD too firmly at that area and crushed or distorted the screen in that sport. You swap the monitor to another system and check results for a real quick test.
