Hey, all: If I could find a slightly older model camera, maybe on close-out somewhere, with only, say, 6MP, could I find something with fairly decent pictures for under $100? I have this notion that a good quality camera, originally marketed for $145-$175 or so, might be marked down to under $100 because everyone wants more MP now.
BUT I haven't been paying attention to models and features and prices, so when I run a search for 6MP, 3x optical zoom, and sub-$100, I don't know which of the results are older models that were well-made, and which are newer pieces of crap marketed to the sub-$100 range to begin with.
Suggestions? Am I hoping for too much?
Thanks!
You should also consider a reconditioned camera.
Here is a 7 megapixel camera, reconditioned by Kodak and it has a one year warranty.

Hmm. This is for a gift, so I think not -- but I'm probably in the market for a camera for myself, as well, and the refurb idea is good, when refurb is backed by warranty, as with this example. Geeks.com is a good tip. Thanks!
For the budget gift, I'm looking at a Nikon Coolpix L11. From reviews, it seems that people occasionally get lemons, but if they return for replacement, and get non-lemons, these have really decent picture quality, and are easy to use, point-and-shoot models. Thoughts?
