Retired 10, Just right click on any Favorite and choose "Sort by name". If you have any folders in your Favorites you'll have to open them then do the same thing for each of those folders.

ItweakU LE (freeware)

by aliunde - 12/7/07 9:02 PM In reply to: Putting "favorites" in alphabetcal order by Retired 10

You can alphebetize all your favorites at once with the program ItweakU LE. Version 4.19 is the latest and can be downloaded here:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/ItweakU_LE_d79.html

The makers of ItweakU are no longer in business as far as I can tell, but you can still find places to download the program. The "Limited Edition" ("LE") version won't let you use all its functions, but the alphabetize one is fully functional.

Click on favorites, right click on any of them and it will say "sort by name". Now I have IE6 so I'm not sure about IE7.Hope this works for you.

Sorting names in Favorites

I am not sure about IE 7 as I prefer the latest version of IE 6 so try and see i this works for you. Click on Favorites at the very top of your toolbar, then right click on any of the drop down names even if those are in alphabetical order and choose "sort by name". Hope it works for you in your version.

The best way I know is to do it automaticaly @ boot up. I use a program called "Q-Sort" by www.hyperq.com. It sorts both start menu and favorites automaticaly every time you boot-up or restart. Have been using it for at least 6-7 years. It's cheap and has a 30 day trial.

Easy to do in XP

Open favorites, click on organize favorites. You will see the word (Favorites) with an arrow beside it. Click on the arrow. Click on it again to arrange in the order you wish them to be. Top to bottom or bottom to top.

How do I STOP IE7 from putting my favourites in alphabetical order?

Un-alphabetized

by Cursorcowboy - 12/10/07 5:21 AM In reply to: Related question by RockieD

The article [Q17748] explains that when you view the Start menu or the Favorites menu, shortcuts and folders may not be in alphabetical order and can occur because you have manually rearrange the shortcuts or folders at one time or another which is accomplished by right-clicking an item in a folder or a folder and while holding the button move the highlighted item to a different location and then releasing the mouse.

I keep my Favourites in my own particular order, or I try to, using this method. But ever so often, seemingly randomly, they go back to alphabetical order.

ALPHABETIZE FAVORITES

the only way i found to do it was manually. it's a pain but all you do is right click, hold the button down and drag it into alphabetical position.
