Help With Networking in Windows XP

by wtfdop0987 - 12/4/07 3:38 PM

I have a wireless router in my kitchen, I connect to it in my bedroom because there are no Ethernet ports in my bedroom. I can't connect to my tivo wirelessly from my room over the router, but when I connect my tivo into a switch with my computer on it, I can. Here is the diagram I drew, hopefully you'll understand it after you see it. http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=48542523ek4.png

Try replacing the laptop and hub with something like this.

make terrible bridges, and often will just not work. your only option really is to directly connect to the network, either with a wire, wireless bridge, or an expensive adapter that uses ethernet cord rather than usb to connect your device to the wireless network. example of that is here: http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=383
you might as well wire it directly cuz the other options are rather costly (around the cost of another router)...
