Hello all. For a few weeks now I have not been able to access photobucket.com nor have I been able to view any pictures hosted on photobucket. The problem seems to have started when I purchased a new router and modem. The modem is the same brand as the old one and the router is a newer linksys (old router was linksys as well). Using the linksys program, I transferred the old router settings to the new one. None of the 3 other computers on my network can access photobucket either.
To make things even weirder, when I use http://anonymouse.org/ I have no problem accessing photobucket and viewing pictures hosted there.
Any thoughts on what the problem might be?
The browser in question is IE 6
1.) Try another browser, such as Firefox or Opera.
2.) Try connecting your computer directly to the modem, bypassing the new router.
3.) Check your firewall settings and ensure that photobucket.com and its respective IP addresses are not blocked.
4.) Check your HOSTS file for the same.
5.) Tell us exactly what error message is displayed, if any, when this happens.

i dled firefox with no success. i then began to plug my pc directly to my modem and for some reason couldn't even connect to the internet that way.
so, without confusing everyone too much, here's how i fixed it. when i had my old router i had trouble setting it up. the only way i could connect to the internet was by manually entering ip adresses, default gateways, etc. i never quite understood why but never questioned it because this method worked. so once my router was unplugged and i was hooked directly to the modem, i changed the internet settings to "automatically obtain ip address" (that was how i used to connect before the router). after having problems connecting this way, i gave up and reattached my pc to the router, and the router to the modem and was ready to post here. however, out of sheer curiosity, i kept the settings on automatically obtain ip address and opened internet explorer.. and much to my surprise it worked. so then, i figured why not let's try photobucket. and sure enough, it worked too!
did i lose anyone there? lol. who cares, the bottom line is that it works now! so i assume that changing all the computers in my house to automatically obtain ip settings should fix the problem.
thanks for the help guys!
Also update the firmware in the router
Broadcast SSID
use WPA Personal security
and you'll be good to go.

If it's not terribly inconvenient it's best to disable its broadcast to increase your network security. You can type it in yourself, but you'd be better off not inviting others. Also, if your software and hardware support it, use WPA2 instead of WPA, as it's far more secure, although it requires Windows XP and above.

How do I fix networks that drop out with SSID disabled?
And given the new wifi hack tools that don't use the SSID broadcast but just get the SSID from the other packets, isn't disabling SSID just advice to hand out so Geek Squad and our techs can charge 120 bucks to go turn it back on?
Sorry but today I find this advice to only cause service calls.

Go to: Desktop/My Network Places/View Network Connections(Side Bar).
Ok now right click on the internet connection you are connected too and click on properities. In the General Tab left click on "Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) then click properties. Make sure both boxes have "Obtain an IP address automatically". Click "Ok" then Click "Ok" again. Try photobucket again and if it dosnt work I dont know.
