Sony KDS 55A2000 vs 55A3000??

by NYCgoalie - 11/29/07 9:40 AM

I heard the only difference between the A2000 line (which was released last year) and the A3000 line (released this year) is the cabinet color.

Can anyone confirm that this is in fact the case or have there been more changes under the hood between these two models? This was not addressed in the lastest CNET review of the 55A3000.

There's a few differebces....

I have the older model. It has only 2 HDMI inputs. The new model has three HDMI inputs. Which isreally helpful if you have a DVD player, cable box or game system. If I ever get my kids a PS3 of Xbox 360 I'm going to have to get an HDMI switch box to expand the number of HDMI inputs.

Also, on the newer model the HDMI inputs are HDMI 1.3 inputs. On my set, I'm not sure what they are.

Check out the review of the newer model on CNET today. It looks good.

I've had ZERO problems with my set. You can't go wrong with this TV.

If my TV wasn't being used by my children, I would have gone plasma. Pioneer or Panasonic. The Sony is a good TV thugh.

I think someone has given you incorrect information

The A2000 models and the A2020 models are the same except for cabinet color. The A2000 was silver; the A2020 was black. Otherwise they are the same, (for all practical purposes).

The A3000 line is quite different. For a complete run down on the Sony KDS-##A3000 check out the C-Net review.

Just firing off a couple of differences....the cabinet is thinner and the HDMI ports are 1.3 as pointed out by GinoShea. The A3000 has an improved SD engine (you want this), and a number of other features and updates. The A3000 is the newest tech from Sony for their mid-range rear projection TVs. Not only that...but you can find the A3000 models at equal or lower prices than the A2020's. I don't understand that but someone posted that it has to do with manufacturing efficiencies and newer technology. The TV was originally priced in the $3200 range, came out at $2600 and can be purchased now for $1700. It is a great value in my opinion.

In any event, I would urge you to look closely at the A3000 model. I bought the KDS-55A3000 and love it. No regrets and phenomenal picture.

Good luck,

Gary

Don't even worry about the A2000, the A3000 is incredible and can be had for cheaper.

what's better

Anyone have an opinion of the better TV between KDS-55A300 versus KDS-R60XBR2? Does 60XBR have 120hz Motion Flow technology?

Post 7 of 7

THE MUCH OLDER KDS-R60XBR2 DOES NOT FEATURE 120Hz...........

by Riverledge - 12/1/07 10:09 PM In reply to: what's better by shoeboy

IT ALSO FEATURES "GULL-WING SPEAKERS" which makes it difficult to place in most rooms.

The SXRD KDS-60A3000, is much managable with it's "thin-frame" design.

Not to mention that it much more stylistic and attractive; and has the motionflow technology.

Best shopping,
Riverledge.

P.S. THE PRICE IS RIGHT ON THE A3000!!!
