Problem installing Window XP

by adrian785 - 11/27/07 6:36 AM

Hi, I have a problem in installing Window XP and would need some help urgently. After i format my partition and copied all the files from the CD to the hard drive it reboot and supposedly goes into the GUI installation mode phase but for my machine after rebooting, all i see is a blank screen. I've rebooted twice and waited for 10minutes each time but the blank screen stays there. I really don't know what to do now. Can anybody help me out here please? I'm desperate to get this machine up and running as soon as possible because my motherboard crashed about a month ago and i just replaced it.

Your post left out all the interesting information. Did you see those words in red?

I'm sorry, I guess I'm too desperate to get this problem fix that i forgot about all the information needed. I'm installing Window XP Pro.
My machine specification is as follow

Intel D945GCNL mainboard
Intel P4 2.66 Ghz
1GB RAM
300GB hard drive

I hope this information is enough?

Still far too many missing details.

Try exact model numbers of the disk drive, video card, what's plugged into USB ports, keyboard, mouse, printer etc.

For example I found XP (note no SP1 or SP2) would not install to these 2 scenarios. 1. The drive was over 127GB and on SATA. 2. There was a printer on the USB with some MSC MODE CARD READER.

There are many other scenarios such as power supply choice, bad ram or just the version of XP but you left out the details so armed with only what you wrote I can only tell you that as it stands the clue is not here.

Your original message doesn't make sense.

What do you mean copied files from CD to hard drive? The installation process of copying files for the installation process?

If this is what you mean, you have a flash drive or external hard drive or some other device plugged in that is putting the installation on hold..BECAUSE it is trying to BOOT to what ever is plugged in.

Check and make sure nothing is plugged in.

If not start over and erase the hard drive to zero's and try again.
