Should I get the Sidekick 3 or the Sidekick ID?

by bryce739 - 11/24/07 7:37 PM

OK, this may be a stupid, but I'm not sure which to get. The LX is WAY out of my price range, and the Curve is a little too purple for me. So, I'm left with the SK3 or the ID. I can get either one for about the same price on eBay, so price isn't an issue between them. The thing is that the ID lacks a camera, and even though my current phone has a camera, I use my phone's plenty now. So, the SK3 looks good. But, how does the shape and size of the two compare? Which is easier to make calls with? And are the keypads pretty much the same? Which is easier to type with? And, which has the larger screen?

Also, I currently have the Samsung t629, and they screen displays like a billion more colors than either Sidekick. Will I be immensely disappointed when I switch phones?

Lastly, will T-Mobile allow me to buy the data plan needed for the SK3 even though they no longer sell it?

So, please just answer my questions as best you can.

PS: I don't care about customizable grips or the MP3 player.

Get the SideKick 3...

My daughter has one (SK3), so I can make some comparisons with other cell phones.

Both the ID and 3 are relatilely the same size. Only thing between the ID and 3 is that the ID is the 'stripped down' model of the SideKick 3. The ID does not have camera, expandeble memory (great if you are taking pics), bluetooth, and it doesn't even have a music player (I know, you dont care for that.)

As for the data plan, yes...T-Mobile will have a data plan even if they no longer sell the SK3, simply becuase they still sell SideKicks, even if it's the Slide or LX, they are still SideKicks.
Other than that, it has everything else that make a SideKick a SideKick. Same size, keypad, the flip-out action of the screen, call and battery quality.

Talking about the screen, there is no difference between the two, however, yes, you may be alittle (just alittle) dissappointed with the color quality. May be alittle dim and/or washed out than I would like, but that's my preference.

So, assuming that you can get either for the same price...go for the gold with the SideKick 3.

hope that this helps and good luck.

Also, I have this thing where I forget to charge stuff. When I get the SK, I imagine I'll use the t629 as back up. So, will the fact that I have the data plan make things not run smoothly when I switch the SIM each time? Or no? Jw.
