For fast trips and for those moments when I cannot carry much stuff I take my great "SD 800 IS" ultraportable camera which is a small wonder. For more serious businees and when I can carry more things (lenses etc.) I take my "SLR EOS 30D" which is absolutely fantastic.
I have been a Pentax fan for the past 12 years, and am currently using a K10D. I like the weather resistant feature, as well as the in-camera Shake Reduction. I can use my older lenses with it as well as new ones, and the image quality with this camera is great.
I bought it to replace a Sony F717 and absolutely love the camera. The 18-55mm lense it comes with is poor but slap a nice lense on it and it is outstanding, configurable for prosumer use or full auto for easy shots.
I recently purchased the 6.1 K100D Super and love it. I've been shooting with Pentax since the late 70's and find them to be the most reliable well-built cameras.
My wife wanted a compact digital. I'm a retired 'techie', & objected to the 3x zoom 95% of the cameras out there (@ the time of purchase) had. I also own a Nikon CoolPix 995. This HP has a 5x zoom & that is good. Image stab. is a +, and it is black (vs. the R718). It also takes SD mem. cards & currently has a 2 GB in it. It takes excellent pix, got good reviews in Digital Camera News & Review. I picked it up off of eBay for $235 about 2 years ago (whenever it had just come out).
It Is great .Producing excellent pictures. It has a 7.1 megapixels Res.
and a very astonishing 10X Optical Zoom . Besides , another feature which I like is the Continuous shooting with one button pressed and a lot more . However , one of the Cons. is the size of the Camera itself; it's a little oversized compared to other Digital Cameras.
IT IS SMALL LIGHT, ONLY 5MP
BUT I LOVE THIS CAMERA, IT HAS TWO LENS,
WIDE ANGEL AND YOUR REGULAR LENS..
IT WAS INEXPENSIVE AND IT TAKE AMAZING PICTURES
Canon Ixus 70
Camera has the facilities I need, and fits in shirt pocket.

I've had this 4 megapixel camera for at least 4 years. It's an oldie but a goodie. I have extra lenses (Zoom & Wide Angle) and filters (High contrast, UV, Haze & others) for it and have been quite pleased with the quality of the photos it takes. Most people don't need the larger megapixel images that many of the newer cameras can capture. I certainly don't. Until then, I don't plan on replacing this camera. I only wish I had the add-on external flash for it. It's a great camera that has taken some great photos for me in low light without a flash.
I have a Casio sub-compact, but my real camera is my Nikon D200. The D3 is on my wish list, but since I don't even buy lottery tickets, I don't have much of a chance to afford the D3.
I have a Sony Cyber-shot. I don't like the slow shutter speed at all. My ancient digital Sony camera had a faster shutter speed. I am disappointed in my new Sony, but it was a gift.
Nikon D200, 17-55mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4 & SB800 flash. The system is more than I could have imagined. Future lens additions will include the 12-24mm & 70-200mm f2.8. I need additional power from a flash unit and also plan to add a Qflash system with multiple heads for larger interior jobs. I followed digital for many years weekly through web sites such as DPReview and Steve's Digicam opting for a quality manual point and shoot before finally jumping to the D200 about 6 months ago. There is so much creativity and diversity through all the controls it is truly amazing how much fun digital photography has become. Phil
Love it. Easy to use point and shoot. Good quality photos. Video is ok. Great zoom 10X. Good battery life. Great compact. Bought for the wife. She is no geek, but takes good pics with it.
Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D DSLR.
