Vista crashes with AVG 7.5.503

by james148654610316814 - 11/21/07 8:36 AM

Vista BSOD's, then when it restarts Vista says AVG caused the crash. I'm uninstalling AVG, but is there a version that doesn't crash Vista? This .503 was released just 2 days ago, 11/19/07, can't believe they still don't have a version of AVG that works with Vista since Vista's been out for over a year now.

I suspect there is some other conflict. My suggestion would be to download a fresh install from their website and save to disk. Then uninstall the present version and remove all remnants from your hard drive... then try another install of the fresh download.

Hope this helps. It has been useful for me in past situations where the software did not cooperate.

Just A Thought..

We've seen very few issues with AVG Antivirus on Vista.. UNLESS, you happen to have another antivirus installed on the machine as well.. If you have another AV on the machine, make sure to completely remove it before reinstalling AVG.

Hope this helps.

maybe very few issues, but googling showed a few problems with AVG and Vista
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=282383&forumid=23
"all it shows that AVG crashed twice (never done that on XP)."

http://wpram.com/log/2006/09/26/vista-software-compat/
"AVG anti-spyware 7.5 does not work with Vista Ultimate, crashes and burns on boot up, I re-installed and got it to scan then it crashed halfway through the scan. "

I uninstalled AVG, installed Avast! and all is fine now.

It's not final proof there is an issue beyond the norm.

Very few (actually none) problems.

But I did eject Norton before it installed so it was clean clean clean. Try the old uninstall fully, get the latest and install that.
