I keep reading mixed reviews on all of these. Does anyone have experience with any of these? I just keep getting more confused! I want to buy one in the next few days. THANKS!!!!!
Microsoft Zune 8GB
Creative Labs Zen 8GB
Apple 8GB iPod Nano
i perfer the zen because of its high audio quality and how it is the perfect size. the zune is some old mock up of the nano and i personally hate itunes
I had an ipod and it broke. I think the ipod is prepared to broke after a while...
Reviews says that the sound quality of the Zen is much superior than the Ipod's.
I'm considering the Zen 16gb or the IRiver Clix 8gb. I wont buy the Zune because I'm afraid it will only play musics purchased from microsoft (I dont know anything about the Zune).
Hi guys, just a little note to clear the music problem with the Zune :
GVMachado, the Zune plays various formats (MP3, WMA, protected-WMA (Zune Marketplace only), WMA Lossless, and AAC). This being said, the Zune will play all of the above formats, and the WMA-DRM (DRM means protected music) purchased ONLY from the Zune marketplace.
For example you buy a song from Napster, it won't work on your Zune.
----------------
In my opinion, I wouldn't buy the Zen i don't think its very attractive in it's design.
the Zune is a good player but has a too small of a screen to watch a full length movie on it.
The Clix2 looks a bit big i think, so i wouldn't chose that one either.
I'm no Apple fanboy, but out of the three, I'd go for the Nano.
Thank you all for your input!!! Is there another mp3 that I didn't mention that you would reccmmend??
well, there's the Samsung T10, a very attractive, minimalistac designed player. Audio, Video playback with some more options, not yet available in the US, but it should be before Christmas i believe...
----------
and my other choice for you would be the Sony A818, Decent player, elegant design with the Editors Choice on Cnet, it has an array of options
Take a look at those and get back to me ![]()
regards DG
Its a great alternative compared to the ipod nano!Better to buy it instead. After all they are the same price!
And there's the plus of having Bluetooth intergrated in the T10 !! ![]()
Thank you for your explanation.
Please, forgive my ignorance and tell me something: I NEVER pay for music files. I usually use programs like e-mule or lime wire to download the mp3 files.
The Zune would play this kind of file?
Hey, Yeah, the Zune will play that sort of file no problem. I use LimeWire's sister Software : Frostwire to download my music, movies etc.. On Limewire/E-mule/Frostwire, a large majority of the files are in the MP3 format, so with the Zune there would be no hiccups ![]()
I have a Zen and I love it. Its perfect in size and the sound quality is great. Not to mention you aren't forced to use itunes. You can use Windows Media Player or the software it comes with.
Remember with an Ipod, you have to use itunes to get your songs on it. And itunes sucks, imo of course.
Only get an ipod if you already own a mac or love using itunes, personally i despise itunes. The zen would be a good bet if you prefer really good sound quality. The only draw back with the zune is the stupid zune software that is confusing and already is forcing microsoft to deal with some pretty bad issues, but the zune would be a well designed choice. If you consider yourself more sophisticated then go with the the zen, its an amazing device.
I got your e-mail. Sorry, I don't like to answer directly via e-mail. I prefer to do so either through the forums or e-mail through your profile.
Anyway, I like the Zune but as I already have an iPod I don't need another player with a closed system. I just got an iPod Touch, so I'm not in the market for another player anytime soon (you'll see quite a few iPods in my profile).
As for which is the best, that's really hard to say. I think it's subjective. Sound quality? I couldn't tell you the difference between the top players, especially since I stopped using the included earbuds and have upgraded. User interface? I really like iPod's, but it's actually Creative's technology (there was a lawsuit over the patent for this some time ago, Apple agreed to pay Creative). Software? I like iTunes. It's really easy to use. But it is a process hog and many say they hate it. And you've pretty much eliminated the Nano anyway, since it doesn't have an fm tuner.
You have several options for loading stuff onto the Creative Zen and that's what I like about it. You could use the included software, Windows Media Player (which I don't really like), and if you've got Rhapsody/RealPlayer or Napster, you should be able to use that too. Oh, and good 'ol drag and drop through Windows Explorer. I've been hearing mixed reviews on the Zune software, which you have no choice but to use. I also like that the Zen has an SD card expansion slot. I have a ton of SD cards.
So, even though I have the Zune on my wish list, I would probably get the Creative Zen. If I hadn't gotten the iPod Touch, I would have gotten it (I was also considering the Archos 405).
Thanks so much for your thorough reply! I really like ipods too, but I thought I'd try something new. (I think I'm going to go with the Creative!) I'll let you know how I like it! ![]()
I went with apple. i know everyone hates apple because they own the market, but zune needs zune marketplace to run (like itunes)and the reason ipod won are
1.everyone and their mama's own an ipod, if you need cable to recharge at work, have problem, you problem know more then one person with ipod
2.accessories out the wazoo for ipod
3.microsoft has history of introducing crappy products out of the gate (vista doesnt work with all printers or fax machines, Windows ME 2000, the explorer vs navigator issue in 90's)i am leary of anything new from microsoft untill it has been out well more then an year.
4. itunes is very easy to use
i would go apple or creative. i chose apple for the above reasons
