So, Tom and Veronica used to talk about Firefly a lot and, partly because of that, I have wanted to see the series for a long time. Well, I just got round to watching the DVD set and I have to say, I was really really impressed - the acting, the writing, the sets, the little touches (no sound in space, the costume design etc.) were all amazing. But it is definitely one of those things where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts - something about the whole thing just 'works' for me: the ragtag, cobbled-together family travelling through space and having adventures (and the odd, tortured romance here and there) - what's not to like?
I think just it may have be my favourite series ever, sci-fi or not. Now if only we could get a sequel to Serenity... Any other 'browncoats' around in Buzztown?
i enjoyed it and would enjoy move coming out ![]()
it was unique ![]()
Worth it.
.. and got completely hooked. The whole series is very well done from every perspective; the lighting and camera work, the dialogue
(including the Chinese) and costumes, the actors and the chemistry between them (Summer Glau - best actress ever!), and the VFX by Zoic. There were a few scenes I thought they could have done without (mainly revolving around Inara and YoSaffBridge), but overall the series was cleaner than the majority of what is on tv today, which was a huge plus. The whole series is very believable, and seems like a realistic future for space exploration and settlement. Firefly is most definately my favorite tv series ever.
Serenity (the movie) wrapped up the series very well, and while a sequel would be good, I don't know how much they could do without ruining the story. But then again, its Joss Whedon; if anyone could continue this and do it well, it would be him.
JP the Drummer (and Browncoat)
Serenity wrapped up one thread of the series fairly well, but there were a couple other large unexplored threads in the series, (Blue Sun anyone?). I think a sequel would do better as they could build on Serenity and not have to backtrack.
Agree on Summer Glau being extremely awesome.
I love the movie, but I miss the show.
Dudes. Come on. Firefly is in my Top 5 shows of all time. I'm just hoping that now that Joss has the comic book bug (I've been reading the "Buffy" comics), he'll keep Firefly alive in that form, at least.
Whoops! I guess I just associated it with T&V in my head - how could I have ever doubted your geek cred - or your impeccable taste? ![]()

This is an old story, but the game is supposed to come out sometime next year, so hopefully we will hear more about it soon.

Firefly is amazing. It ended before its time.
Joss Whedon has a new show coming up called "Dollhouse" starring Eliza Dushku, which unfortunately its not set to come out anytime soon due to the writer's strike:
