When will we see the best flat screen prices?

I would like to buy a plasma or LCD in the next few months. There is no real rush, so given the fact that Black Friday, Christmas sales, and after Christmas sales are all on the near horizon when should I expect the best pricing to exist?

by johnnyblack87 - 11/11/07 6:29 PM In reply to: When will we see the best flat screen prices? by bnwbaronWell, typically, the best pricing is known to be shortly after the new year, however,I heard that while BB and CC have a 30-day price guarantee, but if you have an ultimate electronics in your area, they have a two month price. the prices are sure to go down a little after new years so, that's actually covered under UE's guarantee. I dunno about you, but that's where I'm going.

If you wait till black friday you will only see a good price, but it my not be a good price do to low stock we have most of are stock in tonight for black friday and we have about 12-24 of each TV that will be on sale and if you are not in line by 3:00-4:00am you can kiss any TV on sale good by.

I can tell you, working in a best buy, the REAL blackfriday sales for tv's will be ridiculous. i'm sure it'll be plastered all over the web the day before. keep an eye out. a lot of 50" plasmas, 42" plasma and lcd's, and 32".

I might have done that once upon a time, but wouldn't now except for life or death decison. There is no such thing as an ultimate price. Look to price erosion history which shows how they pregressively move towards lower & lower prices.
After New Years last year there were business news reporting bemoaning not making worthwhile profits on TVs because of aggressive price cutting moves whch were then matched by the competiion.
Guess what? This is already being declared a really bad year for holiday sales. Results? The [rices will only get better progressively. Merchants look to any tangible event to promote sales. In the new year the Super Bowl will bring about some price erosion moves that will make Christmas prices look high in comparison.
Technology is a moving target. No TV is the ultimate. Pick your time & place to jump in when you buy exactly what you feel is the best buy for you.

My logic: I receive the discount coupons in the mail (10%-15% is typical) and these are good when the same item has NO discount in-store. These coupons typically end on a Friday. Sunday starts their newspaper ads with TVs going on sale Sunday through Friday. Saturday seems to fall into a "no discount" zone. The coupons I get at home do not coincide with their newspaper ads, so you can't double-dip on discounts.

Are worth getting up at 3:00 AM only to find the DEALS sold out via; the internet.
If you are looking for an HDTV; the best deals are at end of January.

Newspaper ads are always good Sunday THROUGH Saturday.
most coupons you get rather its bby or anywhere will say "discounts taken off of regular prices"......especially in a big chain even with places like walmart, circuit city, and target. so.....yeah......

I'm only going by what I get in the mail compared to what the Sunday Best Buy flyer advertises, and the dates in my area on each of these don't overlap with each other. Today, I just received in the mail a new batch of Best Buy coupons that advertise 10% on Home Theaters, Computers, etc. The coupon states: "November 16-19". Nov 19 is Monday. I guarantee that Best Buy will advertise a HUGE Thanksgivng sale that will be 10% to 12% off of list price, and this sale will start Wednesday and go through the Thanksgiving weekend, thus eliminating the ability to get double-discounts on any item by using the coupon too. Best Buy will NEVER allow a double-discount to get 20% + on popular items like Sony XBR TVs.

by i m appaulled - 11/16/07 11:48 AM In reply to: Best Buy Coupons by Dan FiliceRegardless of if the sale ads and the mailed coupons overlap (they certainly do overlap here in the Midwest) you still could NEVER USE one of those coupons on any item that is on sale. Look at the fine print on the coupon. The discount is ONLY off of REGULAR PRICED items....not sale items.
