Quicktime file hard drive issues -bleh!

by letsgethightech - 11/9/07 6:51 PM

Hey guys and girls,

I've got a problem.
I have on my external USB hard drive a Quicktime Movie file that I created. It plays just fine when I load it from the external hard drive. Now, when I load the file on my laptop, the file opens but is corrupted and has even crashed (blue screen of death) my computer.
So, I thought it must be something that happened during the transfer. I loaded the file that I thought was corrupted onto another USB hard drive and it works perfectly. The "corrupted file" has a digital static image and sound. What the heck is going on?!

I posted the cnet specks on my computer below- just in case that helps. I know I bought a cheap laptop, but shouldn't it be able to play a 60MB Quicktime file?

Please help me understand what's going on.
Thanx :-)

It was either make a video demonstrating the problem, or throw the computer against the wall and laugh hysterically for an hour.

Nice.

But look what clues were supplied. So few that any technical comment is going to be a wild guess.

Try playing the file with VLC PLAYER next time.

More info needed

Please provide us with more information on the file. When you say that it's a file that you created what does it mean exactly? Can you reproduce the problem with another quicktime video file from another source? Make sure that it's the same file container i.e. .mov or .qt

good to know other cnet users are having the same issue...well, maybe not good... but comforting. vista and quicktime apparently have issues. BAH!

Actually made some progress on this.

It appears it's related to Intel drivers. Not an Apple code issue.
