What cell phone do you recommend the LG Venus VX8800 or the LG Voyager VX10000?

Venus or Voyager

It depends on what you use your cell phone for. If you just make calls and don't do much else then the Venus. If you do alot texting or surf the internet and would like to watch live tv on your phone I would recommend the Voyager. Both phones will turn heads.

They are in the Verizon stores now.

I would suggest going to your local Verizon Wireless store and looking at them. My local Verizon Wireless store (located within a Circuit City) just got a demo Venus model in today. The lady let me play around with it for awhile, and I liked it a great deal. Honestly, right now it's more appealing to me than the Voyager. They also had a dummy model of the Voyager (non operational). I'm going to wait until they have a working demo model of the Voyager before I make my final decision. She said she believes they will have the working demo model of the Voyager next Monday.

The Venus is a very nice and attractive phone. I was impressed. It has a textured, rubberized back, and the interface is very nice compared to most Verizon phones. The Voyager is really going to have to "wow" me to sway me to purchase it over the Venus, especially considering it's higher price tag.

Just like the previous poster mentioned, I think if you are deciding between the Venus and the Voyager it comes down to how you use your phone.

Voyager - best for people who text a LOT (since it has a full QWERTY keyboard), want to utilize Verizon's V-Cast services, access the internet, etc. Basically a high end phone that has all the bells and whistles.

Venus - best for people who want a basic phone, want to play music a lot, etc...

The Venus also has animated wallpapers. Pretty cool, but I'm sure they will eat up the battery if you leave them on a lot. I'm not sure if the Voyager will have that feature. Also, the camera had a lot of advanced features on it. I'm sure the Voyager will be the same in this regard.

As for size, suprisingly there really isn't much difference between the two. The #'s might say otherwise as far as the dimensions, but trust me, when you compare them side by side, it's not really a big deal in my opinion. The Voyager is taller, and just slightly (I stress slightly) thicker than the Venus. When the Venus is open, it's basically the same size as the Voyager. Both phones are great phones though.

Venus vs Voyager - We have/had both

by 4myfun - 12/28/07 8:47 PM In reply to: They are in the Verizon stores now. by cmatheny

I had been with T-Mobile for over 6 years. My daughters (23 & 24) finally talked me into switching to Verizon so their phone bills wouldn't be so much.

SO, I called and made the switch by telephone and ordered the Venus for me (Mom, age 42) and ordered the Voyager for my son (college student (age 20). We had the Blackberry Palms with T-Mobile.

My son, LOVES the Voyager and he is really picky, we always get the top phones, never the freebie stuff they start with. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the phone, beyond words. He has a bluetooth, which is ultra clear, no dropped calls, and he swears it is a breeze to operate. He loves the look, the touch screen, the voice activation, the phone reception is great, all bars in all the right areas - LOL, the web and the ease of sending emails from his college account. He struggled with learning the phone for about 1/2 day, then he was SET!!!

Now the Venus, UGH, has been quite the opposite, although I too loved the design of it, that is where the similarities ended. The reception was so bad, I could never get a complete sentence from anyone without the phone cutting out. That was without the bluetooth, once I activated the bluetooth, OMG, insane is all I can say, callers word were squelchy, and hard to understand, plus I had the distortion....
The screen and features are great, but the battery life didn't last but 4 hours on a full charge, I was on a phone call for 58 minutes and it died on me with very little warning. If you use a side belt holder, you will constantly hit a wrong key on the side. Nice phone but don't buy until they make upgrades!!! Any yes everyone we did the *228 thing :)

So, because I was within our 30 day period, I called and had them ship me the Voyager, which I just received this morning.... Battery life seems okay, but the reception is CLEAR, CRYSTAL clear!!! So much better than the Venus!!!

Just the opinion from a new Verizon customer.

at different Verizon units for too long.

I see phones that look great based on editor reviews and then I start reading buyer reviews. Even within the buyer comments it's almost as if they're talking about completely different phones. Ugh.

LG Voyager review

by geocache_az - 1/18/08 10:56 AM In reply to: LG Venus VX8800 or LG Voyager - VX10000 (Verizon)? by xoch20

I have had my phone for a couple of weeks, so far I like it, it does take some getting use to. It isn't the type of phone that you want to stick in your pocket, screen protectors is a must. The touch screen does take a little getting use to but you can always flip the phone open if it gets a little cumbersom for you. At least that's how I get around. The Qwerty keyboard is really nice along with the resolution on both screens. It paired nicely with my UConnect feature in my truck. The ear piece has awesome sound quality. I think the only pet peeve I have so far is you can't customize ringtones for restricted calls. I loved my VX 8100 for that reason. I did call Verizon to verify that the feature wasn't hidden somewhere else in the phone's programming, and to my dissapointment it does not have that feature. Other than that, I suggest getting the insurance on the phone cause it wasn't cheap even with a 2 year renewal and I don't see the price coming down anytime soon.
