I am running a VirtualBox of Fedora Core 7 on Windows XP But from what I've read there are Linux Packages of VirtualBox in most distros repositories.

What may be right for you or will be the best choice i cannot say. Myself i will be looking at both BOCHS and QEMS and try it out on different machines to see what works best for me.
I have used Virtual PC under windows and it works well.
